Nigel Ong is not only an amazing skater, great skate buddy, fellow lostie & friend, he is one of the best filmer/ photographers I know. He has a passion for perfection when shooting, which I admire & he also has amazing patience when directing & editing. Its was a pleasure working on projects with Nigel, & its always fun to session the mini ramp with him. Nigel is one of the most talented persons I know, yet he is so humble & may I dare say "shy".

Today, the 26th February, is Nigel's Birthday, also the day we officially release "Skate First", a project Nigel toiled on for almost 2 years. What a fantastic way to celebrate!!

Check out what came in the mail today.... a hand made plush toy birthday present ! A real "wZa" speech bubble you see on most of my pics here on my blogs; (The speech bubble I use & similar ones you see at the what's good conspiracy & Dope Distribution were provided by my friend Ben)

I'm really touched that someone was so thoughtful...

I think I may start using this real speech bubble when I take pics instead of overlaying the graphic that I always use....

Anyway, I'm really, really chuffed! Thank you very much, miss Ellie~

Thirteen Years....

A couple of snapshots from 13 years ago! I 're-discovered' these prints a couple days ago; they were from back in '96-97, shot by an old friend / photographer, Leon Maurice.

The photo captures a moment when we were commuting on another regular day of skateboarding.....

As you can see JBS & myself were representing DC way back in the day... I remember the first Rick Howards, Kalis & Williams shoes back then were the best, probably they still are today.

How time just flys!

yes, its FINALLY out, will be available in HMV & your favorite HK skate shops.Skate First, Hong Kong's first Skateboarding instructional video featuring skaters from Hong Kong & China will show you how some tricks are done; additional footage of skate pros skating in Hong Kong.

To celebrate the launch of the DVD, we'll be having a DVD release party on the 26th Feb at Club Zaza in TST, with a special performance by 24Herbs!!

Mind Field - OUT NOW!

Alien Workshop's highly anticipated video, Mind Field, is now available in Hong Kong!Since the DVD's just arrived at 8Five2 Shop yesterday afternoon, JBS hosted a premiere for us so we could check out this video ASAP!

A few other good friends came down to Hong Kong last night to join our premiere; even though they were on a tight schedule filming for LRG - Anthony C. Tyronne Ramone, Kelly Hart & Chico Brenes (One of my all time favorite Dai Loh's of Skateboarding) made the trek from SZ to HK last night to watch the video with us. We were all psyched to watch this video together with these guys!

When I was watching the video I remembered & realized that Alien Workshop has one of the strongest teams in skateboarding because part after part just keeps coming at you.

It was interesting to watch such an amazing video with good friends who know skateboarding; from regular skaters like me to the guys that actually live the life of a Pro Skateboarder - its like being in a real time review of the video!!

The video stays true to Alien Workshops's steez; there are references to the 1st Alien video & the same music from Dinosaur Jr... There is a reason why AWS has been around & been so strong for almost 2 decades!! All I can say is that this video is amazing.

Big thanks to JBS & Annie for inviting us to their home to watch this video, & thanks to all my homies, Chico, Ant, Tyronne & Kelly for the good company!

This is what happens when flesh meets metal, a metal screw to be exact. JBS & I were skating our favorite mini-ramp when he took a bail, quite a normal thing to do when you skate mini-ramps, but this small screw was sticking out of the surface of the ramp & you could not even see it until the damage was done.

JBS fell on it, his pants snagged the screw & his whole body weight got the screw hooked into his flesh, which called for 3 stiches at the nearby hospital. Props to my homie for enduring this, as well as the 3 hour wait at the hospital.... I would have cried like a baby.
